The Three Conversations That Will Make or Break Your Business (Part 1)

April 4, 2025

Most entrepreneurs focus on strategy, marketing, or sales when building their business. But the real game-changer?

The conversations you have.

In building a business that truly fits you, there are three critical conversations you must master:

  1. The Conversation with Yourself – Your mindset, clarity, and inner dialogue.
  2. The Conversation with Your Inner Circle – The people who influence your decisions.
  3. The Conversation with Your Industry/System – How you navigate the bigger landscape.

Of these, the conversation with yourself is the most important. It shapes how you see the world, the decisions you make, and ultimately, the business you build.

Here are three insights that will transform how you show up in your business:

1. You Can’t See Red Flags with Rose-Colored Glasses

The Problem: When you’re too optimistic, you overlook warning signs.

  • Maybe you’ve ignored a bad hire because you liked them personally.
  • Maybe you’ve stayed in a toxic partnership because you focused on potential instead of reality.
  • Maybe you’ve let bad client’s behavior slide because you were too eager for revenue.

The Eagle Perspective: See things as they are, not as you wish them to be.

How to Apply This:

  • Pause before making big decisions. Ask: What red flags am I ignoring?
  • Get an outside perspective—someone who isn’t emotionally attached.
  • Set clear non-negotiables for hiring, partnerships, and deals.

Your Move: Where in your business have you been ignoring red flags? What action do you need to take?

2. It’s Hard to Be Aggressive When You’re Confused – Clarity Creates Power

The Problem: When you lack clarity, you hesitate and hesitation kills momentum.

Confusion shows up in business as:

  • Not knowing who your ideal client really is.
  • Trying to offer too many things instead of focusing.
  • Avoiding decisions because you’re unsure what’s right.

The Eagle Perspective: Clarity is a competitive advantage. When you know exactly what you want, you move faster, attract the right people, and make better decisions.

How to Apply This:

  • Get clear on your vision—where are you going, and why?
  • Simplify your offers—one clear problem, one strong solution.
  • Make decisions faster—commit, adjust later if needed.

Your Move: Where do you lack clarity in your business? What decision have you been avoiding?

3. Stand in Your Power—Stay Out of Grandiosity and Shame

The Problem: Entrepreneurs swing between overconfidence and self-doubt.

One day, you feel unstoppable. The next, you’re questioning everything.

  • Grandiosity sounds like: I don’t need help. I’ve got this. I know better than anyone.
  • Shame sounds like: I’m not good enough. I’m not as smart as them. I’ll never figure this out.

Both are distortions.

The Eagle Perspective: Confidence isn’t about feeling superior or inferior—it’s about knowing your value and standing in it.

How to Apply This:

  • Recognize when you’re swinging too far into arrogance or self-doubt.
  • Seek feedback from people you trust—not just cheerleaders or critics.
  • Own your expertise, but stay open to learning.

Your Move: Where in your business do you need to own your power more? Where have you been playing too small or too big?
